    Advanced Placement / Play Ups

The purpose of advanced placement is to allow players with exceptional abilities which exceed those of their peers to play at a level which is appropriate to their skill level.

    Guidelines for Advanced Placement

    • All divisions are eligible for advanced placement based on the following:
      • Second year 6U can advance to 8U
      • Second year 8U can advance to 10U
      • Second year 10U can advance to 12U
      • Second year 12U can advance to 14U
    • Players must participate in a skills evaluation for both their age appropriate division and the advanced division. A special evaluation will be conducted for a second year 6U player wanting to play in the 8U division.
    • Players who successfully meet the play-up criteria (score at or above the 40% mark for that upper age division in each area evaluated) will be submitted to the Executive Board for play-up approval.  If 1) the player meets the score criteria, 2) room exists in that upper and 3) the Executive Board approved that player to play up she will be placed in the draft for the older division.
    • By requesting this advanced placement decision the parents are solely responsible for their child’s safety if they play in the upper division.  Release form needs to be signed and submitted to the Executive Board prior to tryouts.

Playing in Division below age classification

In limited situations, players may be eligible to play in the age division below their age appropriate classification. Players that are new to softball or have limited experience and who wish to play in the division below their appropriate classification should make the request during registration. The Player Agent will contact those who select this option and determine the best fit for your child. Our goal is to make sure that each player has an opportunity to learn new skills while having fun and making new friends.
