President's Message

President's MessageMission StatementLeague OrganizationBoard of Directors

The North Shore Girls Softball League is an all volunteer non-profit organization registered with the Amateur Softball Association of America. Now in its 20th season, North Shore provides girls age 5 to 14 the opportunity to play organized fastpitch softball. Our players come primarily from the Carmel Valley, Torrey Hills, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, and Solana Beach area; but girls from all adjoining areas are welcome to join our league and share in the fun.

The mission of our organization is to enhance the physical, emotional, and social development of the players while the girls learn the rules and experience the enjoyment of the game of fastpitch softball. Our league is funded solely through the registration fees paid by the parents of the players and through the generous contributions of our sponsors. Scholarships are available to families who can demonstrate need, so no girl is turned away simply for financial reasons.

North Shore's spring recreational season begins in January and lasts through early May. All Star caliber players then compete in tournaments throughout southern California from May through July against girls of the same age group from other leagues. North Shore also facilitates a less formal Fall Ball season from early September through November when girls can polish their skills for the following spring.

All aspects of our league organization are handled by parent volunteers. North Shore parents generously donate their time to serve as board members, team managers and coaches, team parents, snack and drink providers; and assist in all aspects of putting on the various events throughout the season which make our league special.

I have personally managed and coached 9 different teams in the last 5 years, and I have served as a board member for the last 3 of those 5 years. I can say, therefore, from personal experience, that there is no greater joy than watching, not only your own daughter, but also the girls you coach and train, get their first hit, make their first gem of a defensive play, or just feel the enjoyment of becoming a member of a team. There is nothing like it.

I urge you, therefore, not only to register your daughters to play in our league, but also to volunteer to help our league grow and prosper. I promise you it will be an experience neither you nor your daughters will forget.

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

Ed Nowakoski
